Hey readers!
I thought we were done with the idea of a moral compass, but it seems we may not be just yet. At the beginning of the episode, there was undoubtedly a whole lot of lying and distrust between Jules, Ezra, and Richie. Jules and Richie begin to fear that Ezra has gone off the deep end, which prompted Jules to rewrite their code into "The Code of the Ex-Wives." Their new rules include no lying about sex, money, drinking, or emotional eating. This intrigued me for a couple of reasons. Jules asserted that they all need not be like Maddie to one another, but apparently they've all decided that they can be like Maddie to others. Before they decide on this new code, Ezra claims that no one he cons is innocent because they all wanted something for cheap. Jules comes back at him and claims that he started to sound like Maddie. This is never mentioned again, and I think they all silently agreed with Ezra's point. They continue to con with no regard to their victims.
Now, let's chat about Shelly Cohen. Turns out he does work for the Doctor, and he is there to hurt Maddie. She didn't kill him, so he's definitely still a threat. I wonder if he'll be taken to the Doctor and be patched up quickly to go find Maddie.
It seems like Maddie just can't get away. Even while trying to live a quiet life, she's still found by the Doctor. She's definitely not innocent, so as a viewer I do have this desire for her to be found, but definitely not by the Doctor. At first, I thought that when Maddie went to the harbor it was just for a quick getaway, but now I'm thinking she's got some deep seeded issues since Shelly showed up at her door. Maddie's therapist is definitely asking her some hard questions, and I feel like she might be the first person who has met Maddie that knows she's lying off the bat. I thought hey, maybe Maddie is just off her game because of the Shelly situation, but when the therapist suggests that Maddie used to be a bad person it triggers tears. As a viewer, I really have no clue what's going in with Maddie. She won't talk to anyone, and I think she's just liking living in a community where she's safe and no one knows her past.
That's all I've got for now. Thanks for reading!
